The Return of the Tea Break at Work

tea break

The traditional tea break refers to a short amount of time that a worker takes out of their day to relax, which can involve enjoying a beverage. A recent study commissioned by McVitie’s, revealed that besides lunch most people at work do not take breaks. This study suggested that a tea break could solve issues in the workplace, such as social and performance based problems.

The study found that three-quarters of workers feel their lack of breaks has negatively impacted their performance. Shockingly, it was also found that a third of workers are not aware of all the colleagues’ names they work closely with.

A good old fashioned tea break may be the solution for these issues. This is because a tea break can help individuals to refocus and connect with others in their environment. This is beneficial for businesses as it can enhance internal relationships between colleagues and allow for higher productivity. The tea break can also encourage workers to return to the office, after the increase in people working from home. Having employees physically in the workplace can bring people back together again after the rise of home-workers as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
