Salted Caramel Twix Bars Released – After high demand from customers!

After a long wait, a new version of the original chocolate that we all know and love is here. Hopeful chocolate fans have been tweeting the creators of Twix for months. The people wanted a salted caramel version of their favourite bar, and they got it!

Salted Caramel Twix

The bar is very similar to the original, the only difference is the normal caramel sitting between the biscuit and milk chocolate will be replaced with salted caramel. A new twist to answer the much-needed demands of chocolate-lovers on social media.

Salted caramel alternatives of Kit Kat Chunky and M&Ms already exist, meaning the Twix was obviously next in line to join the trend.

The new bars have been found on sale in Co-op stores by customers, but are only available to buy in the ‘xtra’ version which cost £1 rather than the usual 60p. However, due to the bigger size, it’s a price we can afford to pay!

To make news even better, The Sun has also stated that the new version even comes in at fewer calories than the normal size pack at just 224.

The social media fans who were a key part in bringing this idea to life will be more than pleased. One said: “When will salted caramel Twix be available in the UK, I NEED to know!”

A second also argued: “OK living in a world without salted caramel Twix sucks. @Twix respond or I’ll commit an unspeakable horror.”

These bars are available in most Co-op stores in the UK from here on. Let us know when you get a chance to grab one!

Exciting New App for Ordering Coffee in 2020

The mobile app ‘COFE’ is being described as the new ‘deliveroo’ but for coffee. The app claims to be an “online coffee marketplace” which allows people to pre-order their drinks from their local coffee shops or be delivered to them in select stores.

Mobile app for ordering coffee

The app is being launched in London very soon where it is bound to gain the most success due to demand. This helps busy workers get their daily coffee with ease and save a lot of time waiting for their drink to be made.

‘COFE’ is different from other pre-order services that are provided by companies such as Starbucks or Costa. This is because the app allows orders to be made from a variety of different cafes including boutique coffee shops. So far, almost 40 coffee shops have agreed to work with this app’s early trial in London.

In the UK, the average person buys three coffees each week – this adds up to around £300 per year. However, as Brits, if this helps fuel our day we won’t complain!

Do you know why Bourbon Biscuits have holes in them?

Have you ever thought to yourself, why do Bourbon biscuits have holes in them? Also, why don’t all biscuits have this?

Bourbon Biscuit

Mark Greenwell, on Channel 4’s Food Unwrapped has revealed there is a valid reason why Bourbon biscuits have holes in them. He states that these small holes in the biscuits are needed to allow for steam to escape. If it wasn’t for the holes – the biscuits would be likely to break. In order to achieve an even texture, the biscuit should have as little steam in it as possible.

This would explain why biscuits such as Ginger Nuts have no holes in them as they are intended to snap.

When producing Ginger Nut biscuits, the steam is kept inside the biscuit which enables it to snap perfectly. The trapped heat caramelises the sugar in the biscuit which creates a similar texture a boiled sweet.

This can explain how Ginger Nut achieve their iconic snap unlike Bourbon biscuits which are made to dunk without snapping them!
